1.13 So what if this composition does not impress the ignorant?

Sloka 13

विद्वद्भ्यः स्वदमानया यदनया विश्वाम्ब नाधीयते

स्तुत्या ते सुखमज्ञ चेतसि दृषत्प्राये न दूये ततः

गान्धर्वीं हि पुरन्दरादि शिरसां आन्दोलयित्री चिरं

गीतिस्सा बधिरान् न नन्दयतिचेत् किं छिन्नमेतावता

vidvadbhyaḥ svadamānayā yadanayā viśvāmba nādhīyate

stutyā te sukhamajña cetasi dṛṣatprāye na dūye tataḥ

gāndharvīṁ hi purandarādi śirasāṁ āndolayitrī ciraṁ

gītissā badhirān na nandayaticet kiṁ chinnametāvatā

வித்₃வத்₃ப்₄ய: ஸ்வத₃மாநயா யத₃நயா விஶ்வாம்ப₃ நாதீ₄யதே

ஸ்துத்யா தே ஸுகமஞ்ஞ சேதஸி த்ருஷத்ப்ராயே ந தூ₃யே தத:

கா₃ந்த₄ர்வீ ஹி புரன்த₃ராதி₃ ஶிரஸாம் ஆந்தோ₃லயித்ரீ சிரம்

கீ₃திஸ்ஸா ப₃தி₄ரான் ந நந்த₃யதிசேத் கிம் சி₂ந்நமேதாவதா

Meaning: Mother of the Universe! I am not bothered if this composition, your praise, which is supreme in its quality, does not impress the minds of the ignorant. If the songs sung in Indra’s court that are appreciated by those present there through shake their heads, does not earn the approval of the deaf in the court, does it bring disgrace to the songs themselves?

  

(பத) உலகத் தாயே!  சொற்சுவையும் பொருட்சுவையும் மிகுந்த உனது துதியான இப்பாடல் அறிவிலிகளுக்கு இன்பமளிக்கவில்லை என்றால் எனக்குக் கவலையில்லை. இந்திரனின் சபையில் அங்குள்ளோர்களால் தலையசைத்து அனுபவிக்கப்படும் பாடல்கள் அச்சபையில் இருக்கும் செவிடர்களுக்குச் சந்தோஷம் தராவிட்டால் அப்பாடல்களுக்கு ஏதும் குறையேற்படுமா?
