3.19 Your all pervasive nature

Sloka 19

सरसिजनिलयापि वैभवेन स्फुरसि

निरेनसि मानसे मुनीनाम्

उरसि मुररिपोः उपोढहारे

शिरसि च देवि गिरां पुरातनीनाम्

sarasijanilayāpi vaibhavena sphurasi

nirenasi mānase munīnām

urasi muraripoḥ upoḍhahāre

śirasi ca devi girāṁ purātanīnām

ஸரஸிஜநிலயாபி வைப₄வேந ஸ்பு₂ரஸி

நிரேநஸி மானஸே முனீனாம்

உரஸி முர்ரிபோ: உபோட₄ஹாரே

ஶிரஸி ச தே₃வி கி₃ராம் புராதநீநாம்

Commentary:

Devi! Even though you are famous as to be residing on the lotus, due to your all-pervading nature, you shine in the hearts of the pure souls interested in liberation, you remain on Murari’s chest adorned with pearl chains and you are shining brilliantly in pinnacle of the ancient words (Vedas, Upanishads).

தேவி! நீ தாமரையில் வீற்றிருக்கிறாய் என்று பிரசித்தி பெற்றிருந்தாலும் உனது எங்கும் வியாபித்திருக்கும் தன்மையால் மோட்சத்தை விரும்பும் தூயவர்களின் இதயத்தில் பிரகாசிக்கிராய், முத்து மாலைகளால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட முராரியின் மார்பில் விளங்குகிறாய் மற்றும் பழமையான வாக்கின் சிரசில் (வேதத்தின் சிரசான உபநிஷத்துக்களில்) பிரகாசிக்கிறாய்.

3.18 Let the Kausthubam grant us the light

Sloka 18

सस्नेहपूर्तिरुदितत्रिदशोपसेवः

दीप्तो हरेरुरसि देवि तवेष्टगेहे

अस्माकमान्तरतमः प्रशमय्य मुक्तेः

मार्गं प्रकाशयतु कौस्तुभरत्नदीपः

sasnehapūrtiruditatridaśopasevaḥ

deepto harerurasi devi taveṣṭagehe

asmākamāntaratamaḥ praśamayya mukteḥ

mārgaṁ prakāśayatu kaustubharatnadīpaḥ

ஸஸ்நேஹபூர்திருதி₃தத்ரித₃ஶோபஸேவ:

தீ₃ப்தோ ஹரேருரஸி தே₃வி தவேஷ்டகே₃ஹே

அஸ்மாகமாந்தரதம: ப்ரஶமய்ய முக்தே:

மார்க₃ம் ப்ரகாஷயது கௌஸ்துப₄ரத்னதீ₃ப:

Commentary:

Devi! Let your favorite, the Kaustuba ratnam on Hari’s chest, which is like a brilliant lamp with a wick and a lot of oil remove the darkness in our houses and make them bright.

(Or) Devi!  Let your favorite, the Kaustuba ratnam on Hari’s chest which is worshipped by the celestials as Narayana’s favorite ornament remove the darkness of ignorance from us and reveal the mukti marga. 

தேவி! மிகுந்த எண்ணெயையும் திரியையும் உடைய விளக்கைப் போன்ற ஒளி படைத்த உனது விருப்பமான நாராயணின் மார்பை அலங்கரிக்கும் கௌஸ்துப மணி எங்கள் வீடுகளில் இருட்டைப் போக்கி அங்கு வெளிச்சத்தைத் தரட்டும்.

(அ) தேவி!  தேவர்களால் நாராயணின் விருப்பமான ஆபரணம் என்று வழிபடப்படும், உனக்கு விருப்பமான, ஒளிபொருந்திய கௌஸ்துப மணி எங்கள் அஞ்ஞானம் என்ற இருட்டைப் போக்கி முக்தி மார்க்கத்தை நினைவுபடுத்தட்டும்.

3.17 Is Vishnu wearing the Kaustubam so that you will not worry about your reflection?

Sloka 17

दृष्टान्तप्रतिबिंबितेषु मणिषु द्रागिन्दिरे मस्मभूत्

अन्तस्तेष्वबलान्तरस्थितिधिया कोपस्तवेत्यच्युतः

शंकोन्मेषकथापथातिपतितं संत्यक्तरत्नान्तरः

तं त्वत्सोदरमेव कौस्तुभमणिं धत्ते भुजाभ्यन्तरे

dṛṣṭāntapratibiṁbiteṣu maṇiṣu drāgindire masmabhūt

antasteṣvabalāntarasthitidhiyā kopastavetyacyutaḥ

śaṁkonmeṣakathāpathātipatitaṁ saṁtyaktaratnāntaraḥ

taṁ tvatsodarameva kaustubhamaṇiṁ dhatte bhujābhyantare

த்₃ருஷ்டாந்தப்ரதிபி₃ம்பி₃தேஷு மணிஷு த்₃ராகின்தி₃ரே மஸ்மபூ₄த்

அன்தஸ்தேஷ்வப₃லான்தரஸ்தி₂திதி₄யா கோபஸ்தவேத்யச்யுத: ஶங்கோன்மேஷகதா₂பதா₂திபதிதம் ஸந்தக்தரத்னான்தர:

தம் த்வத்ஸோத₃ரமேவ கௌஸ்துப₄மணிம் த₄த்தே பு₄ஜாப்₄யந்தரே

Commentary:

Indire! Is Achutha wearing only the gem Kaustubam that emerged along with you from Tirupparkadal because other gems may reflect your image and you may leave him thinking that it is another woman on his chest while Kaushtubam will not do so?

இந்திரே! பிற மணிகளைத் தனது மார்பில் அணிந்தால் அதில் தோன்றும் உனது பிரதிபிம்பத்தைப் பார்த்து அது வேறு ஒரு பெண்ணோ என்று எண்ணி நீ விலகிவிடுவாய் என்று எண்ணியதாலா அச்சுதன் தனது மார்பில் உன்னுடன் திருப்பாற்கடலிலிருந்து தோன்றிய கௌஸ்துப மணியை மட்டும் தரிக்கிறாரா?

3.16 You remain on the beautiful chest of Hari.

Sloka 16

परमतुलसीतमनघे वनमालाप्तं सुलक्ष्मणा कलितम्

कलयसि सद्रूपयुतं कमले वक्षो हरेः महारमम्

paramatulasītamanaghe vanamālāptaṁ sulakṣmaṇā kalitam

kalayasi sadrūpayutaṁ kamale vakṣo hareḥ mahāramam

பரமதுலஸீதமனகே₃ வநமாலப்தம் ஸுலக்ஷ்மணா கலிதம்

கலயஸி ஸத்₃ரூபயுதம் கமலே வக்ஷோ ஹரே: மஹாரமம்

Commentary:

Beautiful Kamale! You add beauty to Hari’s beautiful chest that is decorated by the Srivatsa mole, superior tulasi and the garland of several colourful wild flowers by remaining on it.

(or) Lakshmi, knowing that the garden has incomparable plants, the garland of water that has saarasa birds and several superior trees you do not leave it.

அழகிய கமலையே! ஸ்ரீவத்ச மருவாலும் துளசி மற்றும் வநமாலையினாலும் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட ஹரியின் அழகிய மார்பை நீ வீற்றிருந்து மேலும் அழகாக்குகிறாய்.

(அல்லது) லக்ஷ்மீ! பல இணையற்ற பயிரையுடையதும் நீராகிய மாலையையுடையதும் அழகிய சாராஸ பட்சிகளைக் கொண்டதும் பல உயர்ந்த மரங்களையுடையதுமான தோட்டமாக அறிந்து (மார்பைவிட்டு) விலகாமல் இருக்கிறாய்.  

3.15 Lakshmi You are the golden creeper between the flower garland

Sloka 15

वनमालायमुषितां विश्वविभोः भुजतमालविटपान्तः

कामपि कनकलतां त्वां कलशाकूपारकन्यके मन्ये

vanamālāyamuṣitāṁ viśvavibhoḥ bhujatamālaviṭapāntaḥ

kāmapi kanakalatāṁ tvāṁ kalaśākūūpārakanyake manye

வநமாலாயமுஷிதாம் விஷ்வவிபோ₄: பு₄ஜதமாலவிடபான்த:

காமபி கனகலதாம் த்வாம் கலஶகூபாரகந்யகே மன்யே

Commentary:

Daughter of the Ocean! I consider you as the golden creeper that remains between the wild flower garland, Vaijayanthi, on the chest of the Lord of the Universe who has arms like the sura punnai tree (thamaala vitapaa).  (Or) I consider you as the golden creeper on the branches of sura punnai trees in the Emperor’s row of gardens.

கடலின் கன்னியே! வைஜயந்தி மாலை தவழும் சுரபுன்னை மரங்களைப் போன்ற கைகளையுடைய உலகின் அதிபதியின் மார்பில் வசிக்கும் தங்கக் கொடியாக உன்னைக் கருதுகிறேன். (அல்லது) பேரரசனின் சுரபுன்னை மரங்களைக் கொண்ட தோட்டத்தில் அவற்றின் கிளையில் திகழும் தங்கக் கொடியாக உன்னை எண்ணுகிறேன்.
