3. Vakshasthalaavasthaanastabakam

The previous stabakam, pradhurbhava stabakam explained how Sri Mahalakshmi emerged from Thiruparkadal.  In this stabakam the poet is describing why she chose Emperuman’s chest (vakshasthalam) to be her permanent abode.  The twenty six slokas in this stabakam explain that she chose his chest instead of his eyes or hands because it is close to his heart and that she can protect us effectively from his anger. 

முந்தைய ப்ராதுர்பாவ ஸ்தாபகம், ஸ்ரீ மகாலட்சுமி திருப்பாற்கடலிலிருந்து வெளிப்பட்டதைப் பாடுகிறது.  இந்த ஸ்தாபகம் அவள் எம்பெருமானின் திருமார்பைத் தனது ஸ்தானமாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்ததையும் அதை ஏன் அவள் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தாள் என்பதையும் விளக்குகிறது. எம்பெருமானின் கண்கள் கைகள் ஆகியவற்றை விட்டுவிட்டு பிராட்டி அவரது மார்பைத் தனது ஸ்தானமாகக கொண்டதற்க்குக் காரணம் அவரது மார்பு அவரது இதயத்துக்கு அருகில் உள்ளது. அதனால் அவள் தனது குழந்தைகளாகிய நம்மை எம்பெருமானின் கோபத்திலிருந்து காப்பது எளிதாக உள்ளது.

श्रये शेषाचलमणेः शार्ङ्गिणो हृदयङ्गमाम्

अनुकम्पामिवाकम्पामम्बामम्बुजवासिनीम्

śraye śeṣācalamaṇeḥ śārṅgiṇo hṛdayaṅgamām

anukampāmivākampāmambāmambujavāsinīm

ஸ்ரயே ஶேஷாசலமணே: ஶார்ங்கி₃ணோ ஹ்ருத₃யங்க₃மாம்

அநுகம்பாமிவாகம்பாமம்பா₃மம்பு₃ஜவாசிநீம்

Commentary:

I worship the Mother, the beloved of Sarngan, the Jewel of Seshadri hills, the one who remains firmly as mercy and the one who resides on the lotus.

வேங்கடாத்ரி மலைக்கு மணியைப்போல இருக்கும் சாரங்கனின் மனதுக்கினயவளும், ஸ்திரமாக தயையைப்போல இருப்பவளும் தாமரையில் வாழ்பவளுமான தாயை சேவிக்கிறேன்.
